Leave a lasting legacy for wildland firefighter safety and ecological fire management

A Legacy Gift to FUSEE will help you plan for your future, and ensure your commitment to safe, ethical, ecological fire management will live on. Made through your will or trust, a Legacy Gift is given to FUSEE after your lifetime. A Legacy Gift can be made by anyone, regardless of income, enabling you to uphold your values for generations to come.

Start your legacy today.

Here are some common types of gifts that FUSEE accepts:

  • Bequest: Making a cash or other type of bequest to FUSEE in your will or trust is one of the most popular and simple ways to make a Legacy Gift.

  • Securities: Legacy Gifts of stock, bonds and mutual funds in your plans are an easy way to support FUSEE into the future.

  • Retirement Plan: Include FUSEE as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) or other qualified retirement plan. Simply name FUSEE as a partial or full beneficiary of your plan.

  • Life Insurance Policy: Designate FUSEE a partial or full beneficiary of your life insurance policy.

Here’s suggested Bequest language to bring to your legal council:

“I hereby give Firefighters United for Safety, Ethics, and Ecology, an Oregon charitable corporation, Tax ID# 20-1094311, the following sum of $_ OR _% of the reside of my estate. FUSEE shall use this gift for the work of its mission.”

Testimonial

“As a retired Hotshot firefighter, I can confidently say that supporting FUSEE has been one of the most rewarding commitments of my life. Misguided fire policies are some of the biggest threats to society and our environment today. That’s why I put my trust in FUSEE. I hope that this vital work will continue for many generations to come.”

-Rich Fairbanks, 20 year FUSEE supporter

FAQ

  • There is no minimum amount required to make a legacy gift. Every gift, regardless of size, has the power to make a significant impact. Some donors choose to leave a specific amount, while others may give a percentage of their estate or designate certain assets (like stocks). Whatever the size of your gift, it will help secure the future of our work and support our mission for generations to come. We encourage you to consider what feels right for your legacy and how you’d like to be remembered.

  • Yes, you can absolutely designate your legacy gift to support a specific program, initiative, or area of our work that is most meaningful to you. Whether it’s supporting wildland firefighter mental health, empowering the next generation of firefighters, or any other area of our mission, you can specify your preferences in your will or trust. We’re happy to work with you to ensure your gift is directed exactly where you want it to have the most impact.

  • Yes, absolutely! Legacy gifts can be tailored to fit your financial goals and ensure your families needs are met. Many donors choose to leave a legacy gift through their will or estate plan in a way that won’t impact their current finances or their loved ones’ security. There are various options, such as making a gift after your lifetime, designating a percentage of your estate, or setting up specific provisions to ensure your family is cared for first. We recommend consulting with an estate planner or financial advisor to create a plan that works for you and your loved ones, while also leaving a lasting impact on the causes that matter most to you.

  • Anyone can leave a legacy gift! Legacy giving is not limited to major philanthropists or high-net-worth individuals—anyone who believes in our mission and wants to make a lasting impact can contribute. Whether you're planning for the future or want to leave a gift as part of your estate, legacy gifts are a wonderful way to ensure that your values and passions continue to support the causes you care about long after you're gone.
