Board Member

Eugene, OR

Miriam Valentine works as a wildland firefighter in the summers and focuses on prescribed burning throughout the spring and fall. She has worked primarily on Wildland fire hand crews, and has served as a prescribed burn crew lead in Georgia with the a nature Conservancy. She believes that fire safe communities and ecological health are intertwined, and is dedicated to collaborating with diverse partners to help bring fire back to the landscape. Miriam is a visual artist, and the designer and painter of our FUSEE Bandanas and Frida Firehawk posters, and is often collaborating with different artists and storytellers when not working in the field. She likes to imagine a future where communities have autonomy over their own fire safety and ecological resilience, where people take care of eachother and the ecosystems we depend on.
